Stacey Wood, Molly Mason Jones Chair in Psychology and professor of psychology, spoke to Bloomberg‘s law podcast about cognitive decline and patterns of denial in older adults. “In older adults as a group, there is some evidence that they tend to be perhaps a little overconfident in their abilities,” Wood said. “I do see a lot of clients who kind of deny that there’s any difficulty, even in the face of blatant functional deficits.”

The podcast episode focused on 96-year-old Pauline Newman, a federal judge whom the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit is investigating for fitness of service.
