In the Media: NBC News Discusses History of LA Chinatown Massacre with Hao Huang

NBC News spoke to Hao Huang, Bessie and Cecil Frankel Chair in Music and professor of music, about the 150th anniversary of the LA Chinatown Massacre, which occurred on October 24. Over the past three years, Huang has commemorated the massacre through a series of collaborative and interdisciplinary performances, including his podcast Blood on Gold Mountain. “The Chinese arrived here because ironically they called California ‘Gold Mountain,'” Huang told NBC. “They did not find gold. They found death. And it really took only two hours to kill at least 20 of them.”
