Scripps Presents: íyo’toróvim yaraarkokre ‘eyoo’ooxono (We the Caretakers Remember our Land)

íyo’toróvim yaraarkokre ‘eyoo’ooxono (We the Caretakers Remember our Land) is a groundbreaking live performance event in which Indigenous oral history meets intercultural music performance. The Gabrielino-Shoshone Council represents an intertribal coalition whose ancestral lands include the present-day site of The Claremont Colleges. This event provides an opportunity to learn about current, local Indigenous experience, to forge connections with Indigenous community members, and to work with them to lay the groundwork for a more diverse and equitable future.

Along with the performance, there will be an exhibition in Denison Library featuring materials on Southern Californian and Southwest Native American Peoples titled Remembering the Caretakers of the Land. The exhibition will run from September 25-October 13.

This program is in partnership with Hao Huang. the Bessie and Cecil Frankel Endowed Chair of Music, Scripps College, Micah Huang, and the Gabrielino Shoshone Tribal Council.
