Scripps Presents: Ada Limón in Conversation

Join us in conversation with the Award Winning Author, Podcast Host and Poet Laureate, Ada Limón.

Ada Limón is the 24th Poet Laureate of The United States. She is the author of six books of poetry, including The Carrying, which won the National Book Critics Circle Award for Poetry. Her book Bright Dead Things was nominated for the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award.  Limón’s work has been supported most recently by a Guggenheim Fellowship. She was the host of the critically acclaimed poetry podcast, The Slowdown. She grew up in Sonoma, California and now lives in Lexington, Kentucky where she writes and teaches remotely. Her new book of poetry, The Hurting Kind, is out now from Milkweed Editions.

Ada will be joined in conversation by Lynne Thompson, former Poet Laureate of Los Angeles and Poet Laureate Fellow of the Academy of American Poets. The author of three collections of poetry, Beg No Pardon, winner of the Perugia Press and Great Lakes Colleges New Writers Award; Start With A Small Guitar; and Fretwork, winner of the 2019 Marsh Hawk Poetry Prize. Lynne’s newest collection, Blue on a Blue Palette, will be published in Spring 2024. Thompson sits on the Boards of The Poetry Foundation, Cave Canem, and the Los Angeles Review of Books. In June of 2022, she completed her four-year service as Chair of the Board of Trustees at Scripps College, and continues serving as a member of the Board.
