“Armonia Cuscatleca – Musical and Creative Peacebuilding in Rural El Salvador”

Founder and Director of Armonía Cuscatleca

Pablo Méndez Granadino is a violinist and community music workshop leader. He is the director of Armonia Cuscatleca, a nonprofit that offers music classes in underserved communities in El Salvador. He trained with Musicians Without Borders in the Netherlands and participated in “Soy Musica” a nation wide initiative to train public school teachers in El Salvador on how to utilize music education in their classrooms. He has shared the stage with artists Emmanuel, Larry Harlow, Charlie Zaa, Los Cojolites, Los Hermanos Flores, Adhesivo, The Outlaw Mariachi and Margarita Luna.

Presentation of Armonía Cuscatleca A brief description of modern history of El Salvador and the impacts of music education for social change in one of its most conflictive rural towns. The presentation will include a musical performance by the newly founded Izote String Quartet.
