The Centennial Plaza Project initiative marks an exciting time in the life of Scripps College as we near our 100th anniversary in 2026. Once complete, this multi-phase project will transform the western entrance to the College, unifying Scripps College’s “arts district” and creating a pedestrian-friendly walkway that leads to the historic center of campus.

The Centennial Plaza Project addresses Scripps’ critical needs for additional campus space for students, faculty, and community members. Phase one of this effort will include the $32 million construction of a collaborative space on 10th Street and the long-awaited new Carolyn Lake Dance Center. Phase one is scheduled for completion during the 2026–27 academic year.
