Spaces for Students of Marginalized Identities at the Claremont College Consortium

Hi! Scotland here! I am a junior at Scripps, and am writing to you with a preview into the world of diversity and inclusion at Scripps. There are many spaces where students can gather and find community, such as: Browsing Rooms, Scripps Communities of Resources and Empowerment, the Scripps Student Union, and much more!

We also have a variety of clubs you could join in as well. If you have time, I encourage you to check out the instagram pages of Watu Weusi, SCORE, Blend, Cafe Con Leche, the Asian American Student Union, the Asian American Sponsorship Program, First-Generation at Scripps, the Pomona Hope Program, and Family. Scripps students are in the process of restarting a couple other identity-based orgs as well, like the Disability, Illness, and Difference Alliance and for health and wellness. Each club aims to provide a safe space for students to speak freely, be themselves, and connect with their community.

CLORGs at Scripps are just a few of the student spaces to spend time in, if you’re feeling up to it, you can check out clubs for students across the 5cs as well. There’s a variety to choose from, from identity exploration to topics that interest you. You’ll definitley find your community, so long as you are open to trying new things and new experiences.

Thanks so much for reading! And feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Best of luck with you’re college search <3

P.S. Scripps’ student government, Scripps Associated Students, is currently working with Scripps’ administration about issues of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion on-campus. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about that, or if you’re interested in learning more about our SAS and student life!
