Catherine Coulson ’65, Scripps Alumna and Actress, Obituary in the New York Times

29-log-lady-dead_w529_h529The New York Times announced that Catherine Coulson ’65, a Scripps alumna and actress, died on September 28, 2015, at the age of 71. She gained notoriety and a fan following for her television role as Margaret Lanterman, “the Log Lady,” in 12 episodes of David Lynch’s popular series Twin Peaks (1990). Catherine performed for decades in the Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon, heralded for her performances in As You Like It, Much Ado About Nothing, and The Merry Wives of Windsor. Catherine began her professional association with director David Lynch when she worked as assistant director on Lynch’s legendary feature debut Eraserhead (1977).
