Veterans Benefits and Scripps Yellow Ribbon Program

Scripps College proudly supports students who are veterans of the United States Armed Forces and the children of all veterans. Scripps College is pleased to participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program. The Yellow Ribbon Program is a partnership between Scripps College and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

The program is designed to help students supplement their Post 9/11 GI Bill® Tuition Benefits. Veterans and children of eligible veterans, who meet the eligibility requirements and whose education expenses (tuition and fees) exceed the 2019-20 maximum of $24,476.79 are eligible to receive additional funds from Scripps College through the Yellow Ribbon Program.

Scripps College supports up to 10 Yellow Ribbon Program-qualified students each academic year. Yellow Ribbon qualified veterans may receive up to $10,000 per year from Scripps College and the Department of Veterans Affairs will match at the same amount and issue payment directly to Scripps College. These additional VA funds are provided without an additional charge to your GI Bill entitlement.

  • Scripps Yellow Ribbon Awards will be offered to degree seeking and otherwise eligible students on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • To maximize award eligibility, students will generally receive their Post 9/11 GI Bill® Tuition Benefit in the fall semester and their Scripps Yellow Ribbon Award and VA Yellow Ribbon matching awards in the spring semester.
  • Scripps Yellow Ribbon Awards will be renewed each academic year as long as the student enrolls full-time, receives a Post 9/11 GI Bill® Tuition Benefit in that academic year, and maintains Satisfactory Academic Progress for Financial Aid and Scholarships .
  • We encourage students to monitor their VA eBenefits Statement to understand their eligibility for the Post 9/11 GI Bill® Tuition Benefit and VA Yellow Ribbon matching award each year.

For more information, visit our Admission site for Veteran Applicants.

GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government Web site at https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill.
