Resources and Services

Academic Resources and Services department within Student Affairs at Scripps College is committed to providing students with access to a variety of resources to support and augment the academic success of students while pursuing undergraduate studies. Some of those resources include:

  • Subject specific tutoring
  • Drop-in tutoring for math courses
  • Supplemental instruction for science courses
  • Professor office hours
  • Library services
  • A writing center
  • Language assistance and language computer labs

Tutoring Programs and Writing Center

The Tutoring Program through the Dean of Students Office offers a wide range of tutoring services that are available to all Scripps students enrolled in Scripps courses, including the Math Spot, a drop-in tutoring service for Scripps students enrolled in Scripps math courses. Tutors are paid positions through either work-study or student employment.

The Office of Black Student Affairs and the Chicano/Latino Student Affairs Center also provide tutoring assistance for certain subjects.

At the Writing Center, students can get help with assignments, including their Core papers, from peers.


Accommodations for Students with Disabilities

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 prohibit discrimination against qualified individuals with disabilities. Academic Resources and Services is responsible for coordinating disability support services for students, with other College departments assisting in the provision of accommodations for students.
