Board Committee on Diversity and Inclusivity

Overarching Goals and Objectives

  • Familiarize the Board with the College’s Diversity and Inclusivity Strategic Plan developed through a campus-wide process and approved by the senior team on 11/11/2013, along with other internal and external documents addressing matters of equity, inclusion, diversity, and access
  • Coordinate and promote ongoing educational opportunities for the Board on a wide range of issues relating to equity, inclusion, diversity, and access
  • Provide opportunities at the Spring Retreat and other regular intervals for substantive discussions of campus climate and issues of diversity and inclusivity
  • Build a specific vocabulary to define terms and build a shared framework for discussions of diversity, inclusivity, equity, gender identity, and disabilities
  • Collect and summarize information from the committee work of the Educational Policy Committee, Student Affairs Committee, and Nominations and Governance Committee on matters addressing equity, inclusion, diversity, and access as part of the Board governance
  • Maintain an inclusive view of diversity to support the work of the Board in carrying forth the mission of the College
