CoSLO Assessment Process

Step 1: Review

During the summer Directors or designated staff from each Student Affairs department and the Office of Assessment & Institutional Research (A&IR) meet to review the past year’s annual assessment reports and to confirm the upcoming year’s assessment plans.

Step 2: Consultation

Throughout the year department directors and A&IR touch base on survey questions, strategies, and other data collection needs to properly assess cocurricular programs.

Step 3: Assessment

Student Affairs departments and A&IR collect pertinent student assessment data corresponding to each Student Affairs department’s operationalized learning outcomes.

Step 4: Reflection and Integration

A&IR sends summary results of each data collection effort to the respective Student Affairs department. Each department compiles an annual assessment report, incorporating that year’s assessment data. Student Affairs Directors meet with the Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students (VPSA/DOS) to discuss assessment outcomes and strategize for the upcoming year. The process concludes and begins again the next year.

Note: All cocurricular departments undergo regular program reviews.
