Meet Ishika ’26

Hi everyone! I’m Ishika, a first-year at Scripps. I’m from Plainsboro, NJ, a suburb in Central Jersey right outside of Princeton. I have a lot of New Jersey pride, but I’ve warmed up to California a little bit by now 🙂 I’m not sure about my major yet, but I’m currently exploring my interests in Cognitive Science, Economics, and Asian Studies through different classes across the 5Cs. Aside from working at the admissions office, I’m involved with the Club Field Hockey team and the Laspa Center for Leadership. Scripps was the only school I applied to on the West Coast, so I was really not expecting to move across the country for college. However, I’m so glad I made the choice to come here! I’ve had so many exciting experiences already and love learning in such a supportive environment. There are lots of opportunities here that feel so accessible, because you don’t need tons of past experience or to be a certain age/major to get involved in whatever you’re interested in. I also love being part of the broader 5C community. The people and resources across the colleges have had such a positive impact on my college experience so far. I’ve made such great friends here and despite the distance, I’ve also been able to stay super close with family and friends from home! I totally get being nervous about moving far away from home, so please feel free to reach out to me if you want to talk it through with someone. I am so unbelievably excited to start my journey as an admissions ambassador. I’d be so happy to see an email in my inbox from anyone who wants to learn more about me or Scripps, so feel free to reach out at [email protected]!
