MCAT & MCAT Test Prep

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) announced changes to the MCAT implemented in the spring of 2015. MCAT now includes topics covered in general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, physics, and biochemistry courses. Additionally, there is a new interdisciplinary section entitled “Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior.” Statistical reasoning is incorporated into all sections of the new MCAT.

Francesca Hernandez"At the time that I chose the Scripps program, I didn't realize it, but completing the prerequisites in one year as opposed to two made studying for the MCAT much easier, since all the material was fresher in my mind."

To prepare for the latest version of the MCAT exam, the Scripps Post-Baccalaureate Program has revised the curriculum to include a biochemistry course that students complete in the spring. While we offer courses in psychology, sociology, and statistics at Scripps, these courses are not part of the traditional curriculum for the post-bac program. We encourage applicants to consider enrolling in one or several of these courses prior to matriculation to better prepare for MCAT or to study these subjects independently during their post-bac year. Scripps Post-Bac advisors work closely with students to ensure that their MCAT preparation is thorough and effective.
