Scripps 360

Scripps 360°

The First-Year Experience

Scripps 360° is a dynamic, comprehensive initiative that prioritizes the transition and growth experienced during the first year of college. Starting with orientation, students, along with their peer mentor group will experience the year together through programs such as our Peer-to-Peer Discussion Panels, Workshop 360°, Courtyard Conversations, featured Scripps Presents Speaker Series, and Compass 360°.

Scripps 360° will highlight available resources and profile the various offices within the College and consortium, creating a thoughtful balance between information delivery and experiential opportunities for growth during the first weeks, first semester and first year at Scripps College.

Signature Programs

Scripps 360° Learning Community

Establishing community can be daunting as new students enter college. To minimize the concerns about finding friends or commonality among peers, Scripps has created a learning community that all first-year students are connected to, called Scripps 360°. First-year students will be assigned to rooms in throughout campus, but will be connected by conversations and events that assist with the acclimation process.

Workshop 360°

Through Workshop 360°, first-years will explore who they are as individuals and their role in building community. Scripps staff from different departments will collaborate to lead these interactive workshops centered on fostering a healthy balance between personal and academic success at Scripps.

Peer-to-Peer

Peer-to-Peer Panel Discussions aim to create dialogue that demystifies what it means to be a student leader on campus. First-years will have the opportunity to engage in open discussions with student leaders to understand the demands of holding a leadership position on campus and how to maintain a balance between extracurricular and academic expectations.

Compass 360°

Compass 360° is a program designed to familiarize first-year students with resources and offices within the Claremont consortium. Consider this a cross between a resource fair, a scavenger hunt and a bucket list.  As students navigate Scripps, consortium and Claremont community, they’ll discover useful information, arming them for success while also having fun.
