Derek Parfit: “Can We Avoid the Repugnant Conclusion? A Problem in the Ethics of Population”

One of the most famous – if not THE most famous – philosophers alive today, Derek Parfit, Global Distinguished Professor of Philosophy, New York University; Emeritus Senior Research Fellow, All Souls College, Oxford; and Visiting Professor of Philosophy, Harvard University, delivers the Merlan Lecture. Professor Parfit will discuss an enduring dilemma in population ethics and our duties to future generations. The lecture is free and open to the public. It will be followed by a Q&A and Reception.
