The COVID-19 pandemic has reinforced the power and the value of face-to-face teaching, learning, and interaction, which has always been the hallmark of Scripps College’s educational community. Hence, our goal is to reclaim the vibrant campus life we recognize and cherish as we look forward to resuming Scripps’ in-person academic, residential, and work environments in the fall.
Local and national guidance regarding health and safety measures has continued to evolve throughout the summer. Scripps is currently allowing limited occupancy for essential student employment, research, summer conferences, and campus tours. In accordance with the July 17 order from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, effective immediately, face coverings are required for all employees, students, and visitors while indoors on campus, unless alone in an office with the door closed and door hanger displayed. The College leadership team continues to communicate regularly with LACDPH officials and is developing policies to ensure the health and safety of students, faculty, and staff upon the resumption of in-person programming this fall. More details of those protocols, including community expectations, trainings, and specific plans for returning to campus, will be announced later this summer.
