At Scripps, you will thrive in an intellectually challenging yet supportive community where undergraduate research and critical-thinking skills are top priorities. Classes are purposefully small (an average of 16 students or fewer) to promote discussion and debate; our largest lecture classes top out at only 50 students. Over 65 majors are available to Scripps students, which include a number of joint and intercollegiate programs. To view our academic departments and majors, please visit our academics page here.

Is Scripps right for you? Scripps students often have trouble checking the “major” box on their application because they are interested in so many areas, such as Studio Art and Chemistry or Economics and French. They crave an environment where exploration and discovering connections between disciplines is the norm.
Do you already know what you want to study? Scripps’ flexible curriculum allows students to jump into their academic interests in a substantive way with unmatched access to faculty, research, and internships.
Scripps College meets 100% of demonstrated financial need for admitted students. All first-year applicants to the College are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships. These scholarships range from $10,000 to $22,000 per year.
