Laspa Center Travel Awards supplement travel expenses related to academic or co-curricular purposes that have been endorsed by Scripps College through faculty recommendation or approved departmental programs and align with the mission of the Center. Academic and co-curricular purposes include, but are not limited to, professional conferences, Scripps organized travel, poster presentations, “treks,” etc. A staff or faculty endorsement is required.
Each Travel Award recipient will receive up to $300 in funding to support travel, transportation, and/or accommodations. The amount allocated to each student will depend on the budget proposal. All applications are considered on a rolling basis and must be submitted two weeks prior to travel. Applications for Spring 2023 will be accepted on a first come, first served basis through April 3.
All currently enrolled juniors and seniors in good academic standing are eligible to apply. Funding is limited and provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Priority goes to students with demonstrated need. Students may not receive more one Laspa Center Travel Award and travel must be associated with an academic or co-curricular purpose.
The application includes a series of short-answer questions, a detailed description of the opportunity, a copy of the travel itinerary or schedule, and a proposed budget. A staff or faculty endorsement is required.
