Rise: Vocal Music and Poetry Created by Women from Iran and from the Iranian Diaspora
A concert of recently composed works of vocal chamber music in Farsi and English, in the classical tradition, by rising female composers and poets from the Iranian diaspora, featuring a world premiere by Aida Shirazi, songs by Niloufar Nourbakhsh, Niloufar Iravani, Parisa Sabet, and Bahar Taheri, and poetry recitation to Shirazi’s music, by female poet and playwright Sholeh Wolpé.
Program to be performed by leading contemporary classical musicians and recorded for Zoomcast. Live introduction of the recorded performances by composers and performers, and a live panel discussion with the composers and performers, with Q & A for the audience participation on Zoom. Free and open to the public.
