2020 and 2021 commencement

Graduates from the classes of 2020 and 2021 and their families are invited to return to Claremont for a long-awaited campus celebration in May!

The schedule includes festivities and beloved traditions for graduates beginning on Friday, May 20 and continuing Saturday, May 21. Families and guests are invited to join their graduates for the Commencement Celebration Ceremony and Reception on Saturday, May 21.

Registration is required both for graduates and guests to attend the celebration.

Members of the Classes of 2020 and 2021 for whom traveling to the celebration will cause financial hardship are eligible to apply for a travel stipend related to the following expenses: coach airfare, bus fare, train tickets, auto mileage, shuttle or rideshare service, and lodging. Graduates may indicate that they are interested in applying for a travel stipend during online registration.

This celebration is a chance for graduates of the Classes of 2020 and 2021 to participate in an in-person ceremony and other graduation traditions since these activities were canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions. Each graduate is able to invite family members and guests, who must register separately for the Commencement Celebration Ceremony and Celebratory Reception. 

The Office of Alumnae Engagement has reserved a limited number of rooms available for the Classes of 2020 and 2021 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Claremont. Be sure to mention “Scripps College Class of 2020 Commencement” or “Scripps College Class of 2021 Commencement” to receive the group rate.

All families and guests must attest to being free of any COVID-19-related symptoms. If you are feeling ill, please do not come to campus and email families@scrippscollege.edu.

Surgical-grade masks (surgical masks, KN94, KN95, and N95 masks all qualify) must be worn at all times for indoor events for anyone two years of age or older. Masks are highly recommended, but not required for outdoor events.

The College strongly encourages all families and guests to take a PCR test within 24-hours of the event or an antigen test taken on the day of your arrival. You will not be asked to show proof of a negative test, but we encourage you to determine what is best for you and your guests and take precaution to help ensure the safety of our community.

By registering, you are agreeing to comply with all California, Los Angeles County, and Scripps College COVID-19 safety protocols during your time on campus. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Each graduate can have up to two guests register for complimentary reception tickets. Additional guest tickets may be purchased during registration for $15 each.
