Scripps College began a new era on April 29, 2017, when Lara Tiedens was inaugurated as the College’s ninth president.
In many ways, the Scripps of the present faces an era of experimentation similar to that of the 1920s.
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary offers three definitions of the word “community”: 1) a unified body of individuals; 2) society at large; and 3) joint ownership or participation.

Scripps College President Lara Tiedens, the College’s ninth president who began her term in August, answered questions from the media and extends the same opportunity to Scripps community members as she is introduced this fall to various stakeholder groups of the women’s college which celebrates its 90th anniversary this year.
