Scientists have several ways of peering inside the human body. The bluntest tool is the X-ray, followed by MRI. These technologies are highly effective, but they are limited in their application. In order to see the more minute aspects of an organism, like individual cells, more sophisticated tools are needed.

Gabriela Ochoa ’19 Receives Presentation Award at West Coast Biological Sciences Undergraduate Research Conference

Gabriela Ochoa ’19 received the award for best poster presentation in Ecology and Evolution at the 44th Annual West Coast Biological Sciences Undergraduate Research Conference. Ochoa presented her thesis work with biology lecturer Dr. Elise Ferree, which focuses on the competitive interactions between house finches and black phoebes on the campuses on the Claremont Colleges.

Mellon Foundation Awards $1.1 Million Grant to Develop Claremont Colleges–Wide Critical Justice Education Program

U.S. Department of State Lists Scripps College among Top Fulbright-Producing Colleges

Scripps College was once again named a Fulbright program top-producing school  by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Scripps is ranked among the top 25 institutions on the annual list as a research bachelor’s institution, with six Fulbright award winners in the 2017­–2018 academic year.

Awards and Honors: Mellon Foundation Awards $800,000 to Scripps College Interdisciplinary Humanities Initiatives

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded $800,000 to Scripps College in Claremont, Calif., for support of the College’s Interdisciplinary Humanities Initiative. The three-part initiative provides funding for summer undergraduate research fellowships, professional development for faculty, and new clinic courses that will pair faculty and students with community organizations throughout greater Los Angeles to address complex community issues using a humanistic approach.
