British Arts Studies Blog Features Scripps College Professor Ken Gonzales-Day’s Photo Essay on “Bust of a Man”

British Arts Studies, an online, open-access and peer-reviewed journal of The Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art and the Yale Center for British Art, featured in its inaugural issue an interview with Scripps College Professor Ken Gonzales-Day about his introduction to and photographic essay about Francis Harwood’s Bust of a Man at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles. Gonzales-Day’s study on the Harwood bust at the Getty ultimately led him to photograph other museum displays and works in other collections, through projects in the fine arts and the sciences, in his exploration of three-dimensional depictions of race and whiteness.
