Performance Artists

This evening of performance art brings together two well-known performance artists who work in various genres from readings to dramatic performances. Marisela Norte is well known in L.A. through her trenchant poetry/performances about being Chicana in the U.S.A., about migration and border crossing, about living two cultures and languages.
Jessica Hagedorn has done many performances that turn around experiences of migration and exile, of U.S. colonialism and cultural domination in the Philippines, of being filipina and Filipina-American, of language mixing and play. This will be the first joint appearance of these artists.
