Below are the financial aid application deadlines for students applying for international admission to Scripps College who want to be considered for institutional aid. The CSS Financial Aid PROFILE is required to be considered for Scripps College institutional grant assistance. Need-based financial aid is available on a limited basis to international students.
Students with Divorced, Separated or Never Married Parents
Applicants who report on the PROFILE that their parents are separated, divorced or were never married are required to have both parents complete their own CSS Financial Aid Profile. Each parent will access their CSS Profile with different College Board log-in credentials.
Under certain circumstances, students may appeal to have the CSS PROFILE requirement from your noncustodial parent waived by completing the Noncustodial Parent Waiver Form. Additional documentation of the circumstance will be required.
Submitting Supporting Documentation to IDOC
When you complete the CSS Financial Aid Profile, you will receive a notification from the College Board directing you to submit your required documents to the IDOC online service. Be sure to monitor the IDOC website to ensure all of your required documents have been received and processed. You must submit the following to the IDOC service:
- Copies of signed Parent(s) 2016 Foreign Income Tax Returns
- International applicants must submit a translated copy of their parents’ most recent tax return and wage statements.
- 2018-2019 Parent Non-Tax Filer Statement
- 2018-2019 Student Non-Tax Filer Statement
All parent business owners or partners are asked to submit:
- Business/Farm Supplement form for each business or partnership.
We encourage families to meet all published financial aid deadlines and to respond to requests for additional information in a timely manner. If unforeseen circumstances caused you to miss the published deadline, you may submit an appeal and include documentation.
Beginning with the 2017-18 academic year, families will report their income and tax information from two years prior to the academic year. For those applying for 2018-2019, you will submit information from your family’s 2016 Foreign Income Tax Return or wage statement on your CSS Profile. The 2018-2019 CSS Profile application will be available on October 1, 2017. Remember, only the income and tax information will come from 2016. Questions about asset, demographic information, and marital status should be reported as of the date the application is completed. Information about family size and number in college should reflect what will be during the 2018-2019 academic year.
Financial Aid for Future Years for International Students
Financial assistance for international applicants is limited. Financial aid for international students is only awarded at the time of admission. Your aid offer will be renewed each year for up to 8 semesters as long as you enroll full-time and make Satisfactory Academic Progress toward your degree. Financial aid is not re-evaluated for international students. Since your EFC is fixed upon admission, your financial aid award in future years will adjust slightly with the change in cost of attendance.
