Vertigo at Midnight: New Visual Afrofuturisms and Speculative Migrations

Vertigo at MidnightThe Intercollegiate Department of Africana Studies (IDAS) of The Claremont Colleges organizes the first-ever international conference exploring Afrofuturism as an emerging literary and cultural movement. This event will gather academics, artists, and activists from across the African diaspora as they consider the scope and future of Afrofuturism. The theme for this inaugural conference is “Afrofuturism as a Movement.”

The Vertigo@Midnight exhibition is hosted by two campus galleries – the Pomona College Studio Art Hall Chan Gallery, (370 N. Columbia Ave., Claremont) and CHM. The opening reception, with readings by Kima Jones, Peter Harris, and 5Cs students, will be held on Wednesday, February 25, at 4:15 pm, at CHM.
