LA duo Sin Color hails from South LA and is made up of Crisia Regalado (El Salvador) and David Aquino (Mexico). They have been developing their craft since 2014. Their music embodies traditional styles passed on from previous Latinx generations as they transform cumbia, mariachi and disco into indie dance pop with catchy melodies and introspective lyrics.
Women Who Rock music and speaker series is in collaboration with CHST 74.1 course titled; “Women Who Rock: The Archive, Popular Music and New Media.” We ask how race/ethnicity, gender, class and region fit into the stories we tell about particular genres of music. In our readings and discussions, we explore criticism that draws upon alternative archives to tell the story of popular music in innovative ways.
