A rectangular lawn with a north-south vista between Wood Steps and Malott Commons.

Elm Tree Lawn

Elm Tree Lawn

This grand walkway of American elms has been the site for graduation ceremonies each spring since 1947. The design of Elm Tree Lawn dates to the early 1930s, when the Cutting Garden and Olive Grove were laid out.

Hampton Room and Living Room

Hampton Room and Living Room

Located on the second floor of the Malott Commons, the Hampton Room and Living Room is a two-space suite used for lectures, dinners, and meetings.

Capacity: 250 theater seating/up to 166 banquet



Jaqua Quadrangle

Jaqua Quadrangle

Named for Scripps College’s first president, Ernest Jaqua, this lawn is frequently used for campus-wide events, including Family Weekend, Commencement reception, and New Student Orientation.

Margaret Fowler Garden

Margaret Fowler Garden

This “secret garden” was originally designed as a European medieval-style cloister garden and is a favorite destination on the Scripps campus. The garden provides a beautiful setting for an outdoor wedding, reception, or dinner.
