A group visit includes a private, one-hour student-led tour of campus. Based on our staff availability, you may also be able to add a 30-minute information session led by an admission officer after your tour.
When are group visits offered?
Group visits are offered at 10:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, and are only available from mid-September to November, February to March, and mid-May to August.
Can we request a different time?
No, these are the only times we are able to offer group visits.
Do you offer group visits in the summer?
Yes, but due to student availability, our summer visit options are very limited.
How many students can attend the group visit?
We can accommodate up to 20 female high school students plus 2 chaperones on each group visit.
Are there exceptions to this limit?
No, we are only able to accommodate a maximum of 20 students per visit.
Can elementary or middle school students attend the group visit?
No, we are only able to accommodate high school students in the 9th-12th grades.
Can we visit the other Claremont Colleges during our visit?
Scripps is centrally located within the 1-square mile consortium. Harvey Mudd is 2 blocks north of Scripps, Claremont McKenna is 1 block south, Pitzer is 2 blocks east (5-minute walk) and Pomona’s admission office is 7 blocks south (8-10-minute walk).
Do you offer lunch during a group visit?
We cannot provide lunch as part of your group visit, and due to the limited capacity of the Scripps dining hall, we do not recommend eating lunch in our dining hall. If you are visiting the other Claremont Colleges, you may want to inquire about their lunch options. There are many lawns and outside eating areas, some with tables or benches, at Scripps if you decide to bring lunch with you. You are welcome to eat at any outdoor space on the Scripps campus, and we are not able to reserve an indoor space for your group to eat.
We also recommend Hagelbarger’s restaurant, located at the John Stauffer Hall of Learning at Claremont Graduate University (CGU) and Honnold Café, located at the Honnold Library. Both are, at most, a 3-minute walk from Scripps. There are also many places to eat lunch in the Claremont Village, which is closest to the Pomona College campus and located between 4th and 1st streets, a 5-minute drive from Scripps.
By submitting this form are we guaranteed a group visit?
No, your group visit is not confirmed with the form submission. We will respond to form submissions within 10 business days.
Who should I contact if I have more questions
Feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 909-621-8149 with any further questions.
Where can we park at Scripps?
If arriving with a bus:
Your bus can drop off your group at 1030 Columbia Avenue, in front of the Office of Admission. However, the bus will have to drive off campus for parking and return for pick up. If you are visiting any of the other Claremont Colleges on the day of your visit, you may want to inquire about their bus parking availability.
If arriving by car:
We are located at 10th and Columbia (10th dead ends at our building, Balch Hall, at 1030 Columbia Avenue). You may park your car in the lot across the street, on the corner of 10th and Columbia in front of the McAlister Center. If that lot is full, you may street park on Columbia or 10th or in either of the two Scripps lots at Dartmouth and 11th Street/Drucker Way (these lots are north one block and west one block from us and about 2-minute walk to the Office of Admission). There is no fee to park, but you will need to grab a parking pass from the Office of Admission to place on your dashboard. During summer, there is no need for a parking pass.
